Focusing on the special needs of mum-to-be as her body goes through some dramatic but wonderful changes.
Some women bloom through their pregnancy, in these cases both massage and reflexology are lovely ways to feel pampered and relaxed. For others pregnancy can bring with it many unpleasant symptoms and regular sessions of both massage and reflexology can ease these symptoms and help you to feel more relaxed and able to cope.
What to expect
Both Massage and Reflexology are safe in all stages and trimesters of pregnancy. Before your treatment a detailed consultation of your medical and obstetric history will take place.
Taking into account your current lifestyle and what is currently happening in your pregnancy, the appointment would be tailored to meet your desired outcomes.
Massage not only helps you to relax, and feel rejuvenated but in pregnancy it can also help to improve some of the more unpleasant symptoms. As your body goes through many physical and emotional changes, it can result in new aches and pains that massage can gently ease and relieve.
Your safety and comfort throughout a massage is essential, which is why I tend to favour a side lying position on a comfortable futon mattress, with all areas of your body well supported with pillows.
As a Reflexologist I work on the principal that there are reflex points on the feet that correspond to all the organs, glands and parts of your body. By working on these specific reflex points found on the feet during a session, a beneficial effect can be had on the whole body.
My aim is to help reduce the more unpleasant side effects of pregnancy, reduce stress levels and provide balance to your complicated inner workings. All the time working towards increasing and improving your confidence and experience of birth.
Pre-Conception and Fertility Reflexology
Great health and wellbeing is so important at the time of conception. Reflexology can give you a better understanding of your current health state and highlight some areas of your lifestyle that may be in need of change.
Reflexology can also help to reduce stress levels and therefore have a positive effect on your health and wellbeing, by bringing your body into balance and helping you to feel emotionally and physically ready to conceive.
Post Natal Reflexology
You finally have your beautiful baby!
Now it’s time to return and restore yourself to your non-pregnant state. With a little one to support and nurture it can be hard to make time for yourself but keeping healthy and happy is now more important than ever.
Post-natal reflexology aims to help you feel a little more like your old self again, improve energy levels and balance hormone levels and mood.
If you struggle to find child care or leave your baby then just bring them along to your appointment. Let them sleep next to you or cuddle them throughout. You could even give them their own little massage or reflexology treatment whilst you have yours, I’ll be happy to show you how.
